Celebrating one year of photography - 12 best shots
Celebrating one year of photography with my 12 best shots
I had so many new and exciting experiences last year since I started this journey and the 12 slected photos don’t do the year justice at all. I’m proud of many of the photos I’ve taken and at times I really struggled to boil it down to the 12 best shots per event. It is a fascinating hobby that I would love to further explore.
What were my biggest challenges?
I had many challenges along the way as I basically started photography from scratch. Understanding the fundamentals was one of them. Finding the opportunities to shoot the events, making sure to take care of the gear and myself was another.
What did I learn this year?
I’m comfortable now in taking pictures in manual mode and making lense swaps on the fly as I understand the strengths and weaknesses of my gear fairly well.
Do I have any regrets after this year?
I made some questionable gear purchases along the way but this is part of the journey. Overall, the impact of this is not too bad but with my knowledge now I could have invested some of the money in a more efficient way.
Which gear did I use most?
To make it as short as possible. I used for most of the time the camera Panasonic Lumix S5 Mark II X in combination with the Panasonic LUMIX S PRO 50mm F1.4 lens. It is by far my favourite combination for all regular events.
For sports there are 3 lenses that I use depending on the situation. There is no favourite one and it depends what gets the job done. I’m talking about the Panasonic Lumix S Pro 24-70mm f/2.8, Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 DG DN OS Sports and Sigma 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG DN OS Sports.
What piece of advice would I give myself as a starter?
Grab your camera and take photos of as many interesting things and as many different situations as possible. Get off Social Media and don’t compare yours photos to others. Obviously, it helps to live in a vibrant city like Barcelona but you still need to grab your camera and move around to achieve any results at all.
What are my goals for the upcoming year?
I would like to photograph a high level sports match in a stadium.
Additionally, I’m planning to start a YouTube Channel
Furthermore, I need to get going with my Instagram Accounts
On top of that I would like to try out different camera brands to learn more intricate details of cameras and photography in general
Lastly, I would like to delve into Videography
