First Beach Volleyball shoot - 12 best shots
Here are my “12 best photographs” from my first ever “sports shoot”. It was a day at the beach with friends and I decided to hone my photography skills.
I basically had no idea what I’m doing but practice makes perfect so I paired my Lumix S5IIX with a the Sigma 85mm F 1.4 and just tried my best. My settings were set to aperture priority and most of my pictures were absolutely out of focus but I got some acceptable shots I would say.
I did some research beforehand in order to try and understand which manual settings I need to shoot in but since photography is such a broad topic I couldn’t remember all the details and that’s why I defaulted back to aperture priority as this was the only comfortable setting for me at that time. The quality tells sind the outcome are mostly still pictures.
Therefore, I was seizing the opportunity to take some candid portrait shots to have at least some nice pictures since the lens is known for its capabilities doing great portray shots. They turned out to be decent especially if you consider that I was a total beginner at that point.
So, what I’ve learned from this occasion is that theory is nice but in the end it boils down to practice, practice and even more practice. I was looking several times at the back of the screen to check for proper focus but it was just overwhelming. At that point in time I did not fully understand the capabilities and possibilities of my settings and my gear.
